Following a fruitful 2019, the River City Jazzmen (RCJ) featured as the main act at the inaugural Taupo Jazz Festival in January 2020. This was followed by two stunning February gigs in the Summer Jazz series at the Old Stone House in Cashmere, playing to just on a thousand eager patrons, the ‘Save The Jetty’ Living Springs concert and, as March rolled around, the Russley Village Retirement Home. This was as keen an audience as we could have wished for complete with standing ovation!
Post Covid19, it is back on track with a fresh repertoire and renewed vigour as we look forward to sharing our love of authentic jazz with the Nut Point Centre faithful and featuring each of our members in a series of novel tributes.
For this occasion we are a septet comprising:
Reuben Derrick (Reeds). Michael Fairhurst (Trumpet). Allan Hawes (Reeds), Tony Lewis (Trombone). Neill Pickard (Banjo/gtr) Dave Pitt (Bass) & Jerome Raateland (Drums)
