By now the mighty shape of Mt Taranaki is before you and on the right side of your carriage the distant slopes of Mt Ruapehu. Both mountains glisten in the midday sun with the snowfalls of winter still clearly visible.
We moved on the through the small dairy towns of Eltham, Stratford and Inglewood and then swing left for our approach to New Plymouth.
