1841 has arrived in Johnsonville to bring back some good ol' fashioned local hospitality. Situated on the site of the old Jays Bar, and most recently SO Bar, it is not just the name that has changed. With a hearty new menu, a variety of top beverages, weekly entertainment, plenty of live sport, pool tables and gaming, the new owners of 1841 aim to please everyone, from the family group through to the hardened sports' fan.
The bar and restaurant areas have undergone a facelift, combining modern comforts while acknowledging Johnsonville's roots. We pay homage to the area's “founder” Frank Johnson and the impact of the northern motorway and the Johnsonville train line which turned the once belittled "cowtown" into the bustling established northern suburbs community hub it is today. By Christmas 2011 the downstairs bar will have an outside area with the conversion of the existing conservatory into an outside garden bar, just in time for summer.
1841 is a two level bar and restaurant catering for your every requirement. Both levels open from 10am daily.
Tucked away, the upstairs area provides a relaxing atmosphere where you can enjoy a quiet drink over a game of pool, or enjoy a meal from the extensive menu available. This area is well serviced with its own bar and amenities making it the perfect venue for private functions up to 150 people with complete privacy. A portion of the room can be closed off for smaller gatherings or meetings.
Downstairs houses the main restaurant and bar. Fantastic meals are served in our designated restaurant area with choices available to suit all including a menu for the kids. If you feel like a relaxed environment, then the main bar area might be your spot. Enjoy a drink and a meal while catching live sport on one of the many screens.
At 1841 we are all about the local hospitality. The northern suburbs are where we were raised and schooled, are our home, our work and our community. We look forward to providing the neighbourhood and those visiting with great food and beverages, entertainment and warm professional service, as well as supporting local initiatives and engaging in friendly banter. 1841 - some things never change.
