The Luck of the Irish – Ireland and New Zealand: A budding relationship.

Prof. Sonja Tiernan launches this exciting series with an assessment of the historical connections between Ireland and New Zealand before discussing the current bonds between these two nations. Growing connections are primarily evident in the recent opening of an Irish Embassy in New Zealand and a reciprocal Embassy of New Zealand in Dublin, for the first time.

Appreciative of this growing bond, the Irish government has invested in a national project to map Irish citizens and communities across New Zealand. The Centre for Irish and Scottish Studies was chosen to lead this national project, which is the first of its kind. Ongoing findings will be shared for the first time as part of this public event.

Toitū OSM – Auditorium.
