Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland.

This is a one-day course with Karen Balmer which runs 9:30am - 3:30pm on Sunday 9 August 2020.

In this six hour workshop, you'll learn the basics of sewing through laying out, cutting, machine sewing and hand-finishing two styles of washable cotton facemasks.

Bring 30cm length of any pre-washed cotton (not stretch) fabric plus matching thread and a metal bobbin for your thread. You may also wish to bring a contrasting thread colour.

We'll supply the nose-wires, elastic, and interfacing for your masks. We'll also email you patterns, templates (in three different sizes) and sewing instructions a few days before the course.

Note re fabric. 30cm is the minimum cut you can buy at the store. This will provide enough for two masks (one of each style). Pre-washing the fabric before the course is important to avoid shrinkage once you've made your mask.

Our Mission:
To provide quality adult and lifelong learning opportunities which empower individuals in their personal lives and as members of society.
