An afternoon of fine chamber music presented by the “Dumky Piano Trio”.
Country Homestead at Black Sheep Farm is delighted to announce their next House Concert. After a highly successful tour in Europe, Flavio Villani and Marko Pop Ristov have joined forces with Callum Hall to present this beautiful repertoire one last time.
They will perform a chamber music concert with Schubert’s delightful one movement Nocturne. This piece’s simple classical structure and overwhelming romantic undertone makes it a favorite with audiences throughout the world. The piano trio “Dumky” by Dvorak is considered one of the composer’s benchmark pieces.
The richness of the dark fantasia character of the piece takes the listener to some dizzying and heavy places, both brooding and yet somehow a little lighthearted. To finish Shostakovich’s 2nd piano trio resonates with the composer’s deep emotions. Composed during WWII with the dark shadow of the death of one of his closest colleagues, it is one of his most expressive and intimate pieces. This makes it one of the finest examples of Shostakovich’s work.
