Arjuna Oakes is a 20-year-old singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Auckland, New Zealand. Currently based in Wellington, despite his young age, Arjuna has already been performing for over 14 years.
Influenced and inspired by a diverse range of genres including jazz, soul, folk, hip-hop, boogie and beats, he creates music which, while imbued with an exploratory impulse, never loses sight of the dancefloor or the power of a catchy melody.
Thematically speaking, Arjuna’s songs explore mental health issues, human relationships and behaviour, climate change and sustainable living. Marrying considered sentiments with an energetic vibe, his live performance overflow with creativity, improvisation and audience engagement.
Arjuna has graced the stages of Rhythm & Vines, Raglan Soundsplash, Tuki Festival, Spark Arena, and Music In The Parks in Auckland’s domain. He has also performed live on Radio Active 88.6FM and Radio New Zealand and toured playing keyboards with The Shambles. His recent single ‘Deep End’ will be followed by an EP later this year, released via digital and vinyl on Rain&Shine Records.
