In April Wellington experimental rock duo Into Orbit will return to the stage for their first show of 2015, along with sludge quartet Opium Eater.
Into Orbit independently released their debut album Caverns in August 2014, earning them high praise (scoring 9/10 in a review on undertheradar.co.nz) and a small but dedicated fan base worldwide, which continues to grow rapidly. Since recording Caverns, Into Orbit have been working on new material for an album they hope to begin recording in mid-late 2015. Some of their new material will be included in their April performance.
Joining them will be Opium Eater, who rose from the ashes of now defunct psychedelic drone act An Hero. Disbanding after recording their second An Hero album, four of the five members have returned as Opium Eater with a heavier and more focussed sound. With only a handful of shows under their belt, they are already turning heads and gaining a reputation for a powerful live show.
The audience will be treated to a plethora of mesmerising imagery alongside the music, courtesy of the talented Erica Sklenars (aka Lady Lazer Light) who will be present on the evening to transform the stage into a psychedelic cinema.
