Intuitive drawing & painting: stage 1.

The overall flow involves learning new approaches which are then integrated into your personal art practice. This is a drawing into painting workshop, with initial experimental abstract drawing which focuses on mark making, structure, space and colour. This sets a base for understanding how to read an artwork compositionally, and consider what needs reworking, and can be extended into your practice using the abstract visual language as an underlying structure to the artwork.

Visual intuition: tuning into your own source of inspiration/direction and learning to trust the first response.

Participants will learn how to connect to their artwork intuitively, by learning ways to get into the “art zone” and how to create dialogue; a feedback loop with the artwork creating an intuitive response that resolves the work. Practices, using awareness of perception, lifting energy to be more intuitively aligned, so the art works flows and the artist attains a state where the ego recedes, ideally moving into the new territory; the unknown in a safe way.

Facilitated feedback sessions: stage 2

BYOA (bring your own art) - drawing, painting, sculpture, video print, and digital artwork etc.

Bring current art projects, or initial starting points - work in a supportive art environment - getting feedback when required, this creates space and energy to keep moving, having considered new options, new readings of the work that they can work with. Dhyana offers ways for artists of all levels, from beginner through to experienced to keep developing their work in their desired direction.

Dhyana Beaumont has a MFA from Massey University in video installation and a BFA in painting and has tutored in visual arts & digital media for 15 years. She has a cross-discipline practice, with focus on developing visual intuition.
