Discover how the flashes, streaks, colours, textures, and trails of light created by our light painting tools and modifiers can be captured in your photograph without the use of any post production. BYO - DSLR camera and a tripod.
In this introductory class, John will background the origins of LP and you will learn about the tools that are used and the results they can produce. The material used to produce simple tools for use in LP such as Light Wands, or Light Blades need not be expensive. You will start with the basic tools that you can make for yourself and you will be shown more advanced tools should you wish to go further. One of them, for example, is programmable. There are no absolutes in LP, and only one rule and that is "There are no rules".
Prerequisite : Students should have a reasonably good familiarity with their cameras' basic functions, and their manuals if they have them. It would also be very useful for students to have done some practice at finding their way around the camera controls in dark or dim conditions.
There are also other specific forms in LP such as LP Writing, LP Calligraphy and so on, and if time allows, we will do some initial work in one or possibly both. Another form allows for the creation of spirograms, either white or coloured, or both.
