Opera North says, "THE SHOW MUST GO ON"
Our Opera in the Garden concert has been reborn after Covid-19, but it will not be in the garden. Instead Opera in the Garden 2020 is moving indoors. You’ll be warm and dry for this year’s event in the McKay Stadium, Kensington.
Having been starved of quality entertainment these last few months, here is an opportunity to celebrate and experience singing of the highest calibre. The programme will celebrate the last 20 + or years reflecting the best of what has been done and also what may be in the future.
Come and join our Opera North chorus, our children’s group and especially our international guest soloist, ELIZA BOOM, supported by Kawiti Waetford.
Eliza started learning from Joan Kennaway at age 15, which is where she began the journey which has led her to perform opera on the world stage. She was training at the National Opera Studio in London, supported by the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation and the Drake Calleja Trust. Eliza has won many awards and competitions, including the Les Azuriales International Singing Competition, Frederic Cox Award, and runner-up in the Lexus Song Quest 2018. In September 2020, Eliza will begin at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, taking part in their Opera Studio training programme and performing supporting roles on the mainstage.
Multi-talented opera singer and performer, Kawiti Waetford, will also perform and the concert will feature Opera North chorus. An occasion not to be missed.
