Trip To The Moon 1906 16mins
One of the few surviving films by Georges Méliès, whose film making talents and creativity were celebrated in the 2011 movie Hugo. In Trip To The Moon an association of astronomers has convened to listen to the plan of Professor Barbenfouillis, their president, to fly to the moon. With the one dissenting voice quashed by Barbenfouillis and the other members, the plan is approved!

First Men in the Moon 1964 103 mins
To acknowledge the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 and the opening of the Museum’s Moon Exhibition we bring you this film version of the HG Wells’ novel. When scientists in the year 1964 are confused by evidence on the moon of a Victorian era space flight, nonagenarian Arnold Bedford (Edward Judd) explains all… Back in 1899, Bedford, eccentric scientist Joseph Cavor (Lionel Jeffries) and heroine Kate Callender (Martha Hyer) took a trip to the moon in a home-made space vehicle. This is their story.

Subtitles on 17 Jan.
