Destination Everywhere arrives in Lower Hutt! And we’re thrilled to have Vox Ethno along for the ride!
First we’ll have the not so serious: 10dd - the entertaining vocal band - shows off as "The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants" and brings you a second season of songs from all around the world.
“A brilliantly funny show featuring great female voices, soaring harmonies and much laughter ... all neatly contained in pop acapella!”
And then we’ll bring on the second carriage: Songs from other places... The 15 member ensemble Vox Ethno is a female vocal group that performs traditional (ethno) folk music from the Balkans and Europe both àcapella and with a band featuring traditional instruments.
Door Sales: Waged $20, Unwaged/students Koha.
More about 10dd
Songs from around the world (well at least with countries in the titles) like Don't Cry For Me Argentina, Land Down Under, Walk Like an Egyptian. We’ll deliver them to you with clever arrangements, great voices, talent, humour, a little reverence... but no instruments - just vocals and props.
Come along for a rollicking trip, carried on a tide of acapella pop. Think Barden Bella’s (from the movie Pitch Perfect) meet Feisty Chickens.
10dd is an all women a capella vocal band.
We started life in 2010 as a 10cc tribute group. While we still adore the works of 10cc, we have over the last few years stepped out as the 50 Foot Choir to perform "Women are from Mars" (2016 - Hannah Playhouse)
In 2017 we presented “The Late Day of the Dead" - singing songs of lost legends. (Tuatara)
Now we are presenting "Destination Everywhere" as "The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants". This programme was first presented in 2018 as "Destination Anywhere". We’ve continued it on for an extra season... because it’s so much fun! Oh and hey! We’re always looking for new members... so come and see why you should join the troupe!
More about Vox Ethno:
Vox Ethno has recently evolved out of the small but strong 17 year old civic Serbian choir, Vox Serbica. “Born” in 2018, Vox Ethno has 16 members – a 9 voice female vocal group with a 5 piece band under the steady musical and artistic direction of Mima Nikolić.
Vox Ethno is a (mostly) acoustic ensemble that performs traditional “ethno” folk music from the Balkans and Europe, typically Serbia, Russia, Macedonia, Ukraine, Bulgaria. The group’s repertoire features unique and original arrangements that range from the melodic and melancholic, to the rousing and rhythmic. Some songs are performed àcapella or with just a percussion accompaniment, while others need the “full noise” of the band which includes percussion, guitar, bass guitar, piano accordion and woodwind.
A truly international group, the members of Vox Ethno come from all over the globe, including Serbia, Russia, Macedonia, The Netherlands and New Zealand. All are drawn to the community and spirit of creating music as a group and in particular, multi-harmony song. They love the music they perform and delight in the simple joy of creating live, authentic music that moves the soul.
