Sunday has arrived. Today is The Linden Singers Anniversary Concert celebrating their founder, and conductor, Basil Brookers (QSM) 50th year with the Linden Singers. Basil has also been involved with Church and Choral music for most of his life.
Being a member of the Napier Waiapu Cathedral Choir for many years prompted the two Choirs to join forces and celebrate this very special occasion. “Music we like to sing” will fill the Cathedral this Sunday with both the Choirs and their conductors' favourite songs.
Two specially commissioned works by Hawke's Bay composers to commemorate the Reunion will be premiered.
Elizabeth Curtis (QSM): “If Music be the Food of Love” and Stephen Lange: “Coda”
Basil is so much looking forward to seeing the Choirs combine, sing and enjoy what will be a splendid Reunion and Concert, despite his battle with terminal cancer. We will do our best to “Rock” the Cathedral with joyful singing on Sunday.
Conductors: Basil Brooker and Anthony Tattersall
