On this half-day workshop, you will learn the secrets of this ancient craft and take away with you your own small skein of handspun yarn. Included in the fee is a beautiful handmade drop spindle for you to keep and some New Zealand wool roving - everything you need to continue with your new hobby.
Participants will walk in the footsteps of our ancestors from all over the world as they learn to take loose fibres and turn them into a strong, soft yarn that can be used in a range of crafts. We'll discuss how wool is processed of wool from sheep to garment and learn to spin and ply yarn from pure New Zealand wool.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners. It is aimed at adults but if you would like to bring a child over twelve, please email before registering.
Places are limited to twelve participants to ensure everyone receives the support they need.
