Playing an eclectic mix of music for string quartet that ranges widely from Vivaldi to Hendrix, the Jade String Quartet (violinists Miranda Adams and William Hanfling, violist Robert Ashworth and cellist Edith Salzmann) have won a special place in NZ’s music scene.
Since their inception in 2003, the Jade Quartet have commissioned and premiered many NZ works by the likes of David Hamilton and Chris Adams, both of whom are on today’s programme with Haydn and. Schubert. Jade has a CD of New Zealand works on the RATTLE label and two national tours in 2007 and 2009 as well as a concert series over six years at the Pah Homestead and other venues.
