Themeta are thrilled to be hosting their first gig of 2020 and the luscious modern jazz of Swim Against the Tide and Ocelot.
This gig is a farewell to Daria and Glen Dwyer who are moving up north. They have been an integral part of Themeta since we’ve been on the scene and we will miss them dearly.
Bringing you a night of jazz, rock and fusion music from 3 eclectic Christchurch acts.
Drawing from a range on influences including Snarky Puppy, Vulfpeck and Billy Cobham, Themeta melds rock and jazz with a heavy dose of funk.
1. A medium-sized wild cat that has an orange-yellow coat, native to South and Central America.
2. A Christchurch-based jazz quintet playing a compelling mix of high-intensity modern compositions and laid-back grooves.
Swim Against The Tide is a modern jazz fusion originals project lead by Sam White and features Nick France on sax, Darren Pickering on keys and Nikos Kazakos on drums. Their set list includes a mix of exciting new original music and some covers from their favourite modern jazz artists.
