Also known as Awareness Through Movement®, these classes do wonders to ease muscular discomfort and habitual tension (especially the kind you don't even realise you are holding) as well as improve your mobility, coordination, balance and overall sense of wellbeing.
If your favourite part of yoga classes is the lying down bit at the end or the delicious relaxed feeling when you finish, you'll love these classes.
In each not-yoga class you lie, sit or stand on a comfy mat and are verbally guided through a sequence of movements that involve the whole body. You discover where you over- or under-work and how to let go of unnecessary pain and tension.
This allows you to find more ease in your movement and everyday activities (and it will help improve your yoga practice if that's your thing).
You'll also love these classes if you're not keen on yoga or you find yoga too much for your body to handle.
You always work at your own level of comfort and there is zero pain, sweating or stretching involved. In fact, we operate on a no pain, more gain approach. You don't use tension or force to make changes. Instead you pay close attention to the way you move to make improvements.
Plus there's lots of rests along the way to embed the benefits and learning (and who doesn't like a little rest every now and then?).
We have a fun, supportive community vibe in our classes and welcome all body types and levels of experience.
It doesn't matter if you've never tried yoga or Awareness Through Movement class before or you've been doing it for years.
Classes are held at the bright and spacious Movement Works Studio in Jervoistown in a beautiful orchard setting.
