This course is designed for entry level exercisers with little or no exercise experience. It's a ‘from the couch to moving’ approach and designed to start your journey and set you up with the tools and connections to be self-sufficient in exercise.
Are you currently inactive and want to start an exercise plan on your own in private, but not sure what to do?
Are you too shy to attend gyms or group exercise sessions in public? Or perhaps gyms are too expensive or you feel like you want to strengthen your self-confidence and form a base first before you join one?
These are all common feelings - joining this class may be a way to not let these feelings become a barrier to being active and instead empower yourself with key knowledge to get started on your own.
Learn a bank of exercises that can be done at home with little or no equipment.
The aims of the course are to:
- Understand the basics of the body and nutrition for health
- Know a bank of exercises and how to progress yourself
- Design your own exercise plan and weeks
- Carry out exercise plan for three weeks, while monitoring and tracking your progress
- Review progress and learn connections for further help and next steps
- By the end of the course:
You will have formed exercise goals and designed and followed an exercise plan for 3 weeks.
You will have measured your progress, monitored and reviewed your plan, and have successfully established the habit of exercise.
You will have learned a catalogue of exercises you can do from home or anywhere using little or no equipment.
You will have a better understanding and ‘feeling’ for exercise, body awareness, feel more confident to be active, healthy eating, and feel empowered with knowledge and connections to start your healthy lifestyle journey.
Basics of exercise, healthy eating and rest.
You will learn some basics of how to choose exercises and develop a routine to help achieve a goal.
You will know when to ask for help and where to go locally to get connected with support.
You will have made friends from members of the group and other active connections such as personal trainers, exercise facilities, group exercise, active hobbies contacts.
