Vesa has gathered an impressive group of friends, all principal players from the NZSO, to perform an exciting programme that shines a light on the sensational horn playing of Samuel Jacobs. As well as performing perhaps the most cherished piece of chamber music with horn, Mozart’s quintet, the group will be joined by a second horn player Ian Wildsmith, also from the NZSO, to play Beethoven’s Sextet in E-flat major. The horns make this a rich full work.
The Christopher’s Classics programme, founded by Christopher Marshall, has become a mainstay of the Christchurch chamber music scene, showcasing some of New Zealand’s finest musicians. Following the 9 July concert the 2020 series features New Zealand String Quartet (20 August), Aroha String Quartet with Robert Orr (oboe) (3 September), and Marmen Quartet (7 October).
