It's time for the stories to begin!
We will start with a drink or two to get tongues wagging, then gather round a few tables where the true stories will begin to be told. A couple of reliable raconteurs will get things started, and then it will be on for one and all.
All you need to do is think of two true stories: one about yourself, and another that someone else has told you. Please be prepared to spill these to an friendly and receptive audience!
*Despite the name of the venue, your true stories need not be dirty, little nor secret!
What Is True Stories Project?
In a world of insipid memes and fake news, the power and authenticity of true stories endure.
The purpose of True Stories Project is simple; for raconteurs of all kinds to meet and tell true stories about themselves, family, friends, or famous people.
The only requirement is that the stories are true, and either funny or fascinating (hopefully both!)
A true story can be about yourself, someone you know, or a public figure. You could have experienced it yourself, or heard the story passed on from someone else. It just needs to be true. If you can prove it, even better.
True Stories Project can improve your oratory without the rigid formalities of “Learn Public Speaking” programmes. Just recall a funny and/or fascinating story, and tell it loudly and clearly to a receptive audience. All language competencies are welcome - a cultural twist can make a true story even more compelling.
Just don’t get anyone in trouble by saying anything defamatory, in breach of privacy or an obligation of confidence.
