Stu & Raquel from Kanuka Yoga are hosting an Acro Yoga Workshop on Saturday, 18th July and we would love to see you there!
No previous experience is necessary and you're welcome to attend with a partner/friend or come solo and we'll pair you up on the day.
This Workshop will be suitable for complete beginners and for people who are more advanced; everyone will be guided through a range of Acro Yoga warm ups, postures and balances with an emphasis on keeping it fun, playful and safe.
The studio space (follow them on Instagram - @kanukayoga) is a large area with oak flooring, high exposed ceilings, lots of props for comfort, plants and heating. A welcoming space where you can breath and move mindfully!
When it comes to Acro Yoga, safety is important to us. We encourage everyone to work in threes - one base, one flyer and one person spotting; we'll provide some tips on how to spot correctly once we get going.
What Is Acro Yoga?
A physical practice which combines yoga and acrobatics, but don't let the word acrobatics put you off; like with most things, you can control what you try and don't try; always start slow!
- One person is lying flat on their back with legs lifted - The Base
- The other is lifted and moving around on the other person feet / hands - The Flyer
- The third person is watching everything unfold, with arms out at the ready to catch / support any falls - The Spotter
