An evening with Scottish born Celtic Soul Blues siren Isabella (Izzy) Miller Bell Aka Ma Bell who once again dons the mantle of Madame Tragedie to host and deliver an evening of top shelf Acoustic Classic & Country Blues, Jazz 'n' Soul at the Anglican Church in Hanmer Springs. Ma Bell will be accompanied by accomplished pianist John Bevin and two time award winning guitarist Susan Leigh Grant for a night of acoustic bliss that will warm the cockles of your heart.
The fire will be blazing and the bells will surely be ringing to welcome the South's First Lady of the Blues recently returned to New Zealand from a 15 month musical odyssey to promote her latest body of work. Madame Tragedie - a 12 track CD of self-penned works and new arrangements showcases the very best of Ma Bell's personal contribution to The Christchurch Pop Up Concert Series, a Miller Bell post earthquake arts and music production that toured Canterbury and parts of the South from 2011 - 2018. Currently working Trans Tasman this travelling musical luminary takes in Hanmer as part of a 6 date tour of the South.
From the streets of Europe to Sydney and on to New Zealand Ma Bell has performed on various platforms, from the streets, schools and prisons to local, national and international stages and events. She is the real deal, an artist of our time, a storyteller who leaves no stone unturned.
Hanmer is the place to be this Queens Birthday, what could be better, walking and breathing in the fresh alpine air, bathing in the heat of Hanmers thermal pools and finishing the evening off in church soaking up the warm sounds and good vibrations that is Ma Bell's trademark.
