Due to overwhelming demand UB40 Featuring Ali, Astro & Mickey have added a new show to their 40th Anniversary Tour of New Zealand.
The global reggae hit makers will now also play Central Energy Trust Arena in Palmerston North on Friday, February 8, 2019 with support from the Marley NZ All Stars
2019 marks 40 years since UB40 first performed live. The reggae icons will be celebrating with a ‘greatest hits’ set featuring favourites such as ‘Red Red Wine’, ‘Cherry Oh Baby’, ‘Rat In Mi Kitchen’ and ‘Kingston Town’.
Ali and Astro will be joined on-stage by their incredible eight-piece band and will be supported by an incredible array of international and local acts throughout the 6 date NZ tour.
MARLEY NZ ALL STARS are confirmed as special guests for the Palmerston North show. This mega cast of Kiwi musicians includes members of Kora, L.A.B, Supergroove plus vocalists Annie Crummer, Ria Hall, Tiki Taane, Laughton Kora, Warren Maxwell and Anna Coddington. The All Stars will perform their highly-acclaimed celebration of Bob Marley, which has wowed audiences across NZ and Australia.
Central Energy Trust Arena Manager, John Lynch, said “the venue is excited to be hosting one of the world’s most iconic bands of the past 40 years and again showcases the variety of events the venues at Arena can host. UB40 will be playing an open air concert on the Arena 1 Oval which is sure to attract a large audience including many out of town visitors to our city.”
