After the success of his first dinner in September Chef Abdal Kyassah, founder of Abdal Catering and recent Dunedin immigrant is delighted to present a delicious Syrian BBQ dinner.

Grab a group of family and friends and come and join Abdal for a delicious evening exploring foods from his Syrian heritage.

The menu is specially curated to provide lots of tasting opportunities and includes plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians as well as for those who are gluten free.

Grazing Table:
Saj bread. Traditional Syrian flatbread, cooked on a dome. DF, Vegan. GF bread. Abdal’s special recipe for a gluten free bread. GF, DF, Vegan
Hommus Beiruty. Abdal’s delicious traditional silky hummus made with chickpeas, parsley and olive oil. GF, DF, Vegan
Foul Moudamas. Broad beans, tomato, spring onion, parsley, spices, a glug of olive oil and a squeeze of lemon. GF, DF, Vegan
Arabic Potato Salad. Cubed potatoes with fresh tomato, onion, parsley, herbs, dressed with olive oil and lemon juice. GF, Vegan, DF
Fasolia Bil Zait. Green Beans with onions, garlic cooked with olive oil. GF,DF, Vegan
Yoghurt Salad. The perfect accompaniment to Syrian BBQ, a yoghurt sauce with garlic and herbs. GF
Beet Salad. A refreshing salad of beetroot, cabbage, carrot & fennel. GF, DF, Vegan
Sambusa Vege. Mixed vegetables including potatoes cooked with a delicious gentle mixed spice. DF, Vegan
Bazilla Rice. A Syrian classic of Basmati rice served with green beans & spices. GF, DF Vegan

BBQ Mains:
Shawarma Chicken. Stacked, spice-marinated chicken cooked for hours on a shawarma spit, basted in it's own juices for amazing flavour. GF, DF
Lamb Kebab. Abdal’s secret recipe spices on lamb kebabs grilled over charred coals. GF, DF
Grilled Vegetable Kebabs. Kebabs loaded with fresh spring vegetables grilled over charred coals. Selection will include capsicum, tomato, garlic and onion. GF, DF, Vegan
Grilled Broccoli and Grilled Corn on the Cob. Spring vegetables cooked on the grill and seasoned with olive oil and salt. GF, DF, Vegan

To Finish:
Riz Belhaleab. Traditional Syrian milk pudding with rice just like they are served in Damascus. GF
Basbusa. Delicious Syrian Semolina cake.

Bookings are essential for this special one-off dinner. It is $49 per head for food ($3 Eventfinda booking fee), children 6 - 12 are $25 and children 0 - 5 are $5. Drinks will be available for purchase from the bar.
