This is our highest level Spanish class for those who have completed our Spanish Intermediate class and now wish to develop fluency. It may also suit those who have spoken Spanish during travel or work abroad at some time in the past who wish to refresh their skills.
This course is generally conversation-based, using an article from a Spanish or South American newspaper or students choosing a topic as the basis for discussion. Participants should be comfortable listening to and speaking in Spanish, as the class is conducted by the tutor almost entirely in Spanish.
Through participating in Spanish Conversation you have the opportunity to practise the language acquired in earlier courses, improving fluency, growing vocabulary, mastering the basics of grammar, improving pronunciation and increasing confidence in understanding others and responding. The tutor will continue to introduce teaching points around advanced tenses and modes. Most sessions include games to practise speaking skills.
The atmosphere of the class is friendly and relaxed and often humorous. The environment is inclusive and encouraging.
Selwyn Community Education offers Spanish courses at the following levels:
- Spanish for Travellers (Beginners) available as both evening and weekend classes.
- Level 1 Beginners
- Level 2 Beginners Continuation
- Level 3 Improvers
- Level 4 Intermediate
- Level 5 Conversation
