With our neighbours from Scarecrow, we have developed a series of three seasonal flower workshops, with an art twist: create a winter still life inspired by the Baroque period in July; learn the art of creating floral centrepieces in September and make a long-lasting wreath for the festive season in November.
WORKSHOP 2: Pastoral Table Centres
Bring the new season into your home through flower arrangements that dress up your dining table. Flower farmer Christy Ralphs from Nourish Gardens on Waiheke will give a talk on sustainable practices in flower growing, after which you will be introduced to various approaches to design floral table centres. With the most delicate spring flowers you'll get to create a centrepiece in a style that complements your interior, and we'll show you the art of table dressing by combining your arrangement with natural textiles from The Fabric Queen Ali Davies and handmade crockery from Factory Ceramics.
All flowers, vessels and tools are provided. You get to take your arrangement home to enjoy.
Scarecrow is a café, artisan farmers market and florist in one. Its French country style interior, lively open kitchen and friendly staff brightens up this side of urban Auckland. Scarecrow’s florist opts for a rich, textured style, to celebrate the beauty of the country and bring natural elements into the cityscape.
