Join local printmaking legend Kathy Boyle for a fun and informative practical workshop, learning the techniques of lightweight aluminum etching. In addition you will be shown how to print your plates using the ‘chine colle’ method to add colour and texture.
You will begin this one day workshop by making several pieces chine colle paper and investigate several methods of application of the chine colle to be used with your prints. You will then make one or two small aluminium etchings using copper sulphate and salt solution, exploring mark-making and plate shaping techniques. By the end of the day you should have a small edition of prints that utilise the chine colle and etching techniques.
All materials provided; aluminum, paper, inks etc. There will be a small materials fee to be paid directly to the tutor of $15 on the day.
