Have you ever wanted to be a Photography Judge? Do you need to better understand the judging process at the Nikon Iris Awards, held annually by NZIPP? The NZIPP Judge Development workshop is the first step in becoming an NZIPP Judge or Panel Chair and will give you valuable skills in all Photographic awards, including a better understanding of print entry!
Bill Bachman and Robyn Campbell from the AIPP Judge Development Team will be in Wellington on Friday 17th May holding a Judge Development and Panel Chair workshop.
The workshops are split into two sessions. The first, running approx 12pm - 5pm will cover:
Protocols and Ethics
Technical flaws in file preparation & printing
Critical language training
Review of photo competitions around the world.
Assessing an image
PPY Overview - What happens in a PPY room, Example of PPY judging
Scoring a print
Commenting on a print
Challenging - what to say
Reviews (how they work)
Listening to a challenge
Responding to a challenge
Responding to a dominant judge
Working as a team of equals
Mock NZIPP judging
Panel Chair Training – For Panel Chairs/Trainee Panel Chairs ONLY (5.15pm)
Session two runs approx 6pm to 9pm:
All workshop attendees are invited to bring one printed image to this session for print critique. This is a great opportunity for attendees to test out their new skills in a judge simulated environment.
This event runs in Auckland on Thursday 16th May 2019, Wellington Friday 17th May 2019, and Christchurch Saturday 18th May 2019.
