This years films are:
Atlas: Into the Mountains
Director: Braydon Moloney, NZ, World premiere.
A sublime journey into Morocco’s spectacular Atlas Mountains, from the arid Anti-Atlas plateau, through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, to the snowy passes of the High Atlas.

Dasler Pinnacles
Director: Joe Wright, NZ, World premiere.
A short film about a few local Wanaka folk playing in their amazing back yard. While bike-packing the Hopkins valley a month back they saw a pointy-looking peak from camp... Then they decided to head back to what turned out to be the Dasler Pinnacle. A good dose of exposure, solitude, sub-zero temperatures, and epic New Zealand goodness…

Upland Dreams
Director: Ross Mackay, NZ, A world premiere.
Josh Clark and his good friend Jono Carr stumble upon an unlikely find in a cave while hunting in the North Routeburn Valley. It just so happens that one of NZ’s premier backcountry couloirs is directly across the valley from the cave. Josh comes back after 17 years to attempt the descent and complete his part of this cool little story.

Fluid Trails
Director: Dylan Gerschwitz, NZ, World premiere.
Follow a three person team on an 11-day loop of the second largest national park in NZ. Diverse landscapes, traversed by bike and boat.

The Breath Connection
Director: Aliscia Young, NZ.
A portrait of freediver Kathryn Nevatt, former World Champion and current New Zealand record holder in all freediving disciplines. Filmed through the distinctive Central Otago seasons, the film reflects Kathryn’s philosophy and gives insight into the mind of a freediver. The Breath Connection explores our interconnectedness and affinity with the natural world, ourselves and community.

Directors: Brooke Segerberg and Mat Goodman, NZ, World premiere.
Fiordland became home to the world’s first conservation efforts in 1894. Today these efforts to conserve biodiversity in the wild southwest corner of Te Wāipounamu continue to be carried out by a vast network of scientists and rangers. This film provides a glimpse into the beauty and magic, and the reality, of Fiordland National Park.

Directors: Sophie Ballagh & Ewan Blyth, NZ.
Two people, two weeks, two kayaks. A journey beyond wilderness, via sea kayak to connect with an uninhabited land of ice and penguins. Antarctica is a place of true wilderness that few get to visit, let alone connect with. Sophie and Ewan, two paddlers with adventurous spirits, undertake a self-supported sea kayak expedition in Antarctica.

Throughout the film, connection, along with the solitude and remoteness of the journey, is woven in, together with an insight into the preparations necessary for an expedition of this nature.
