To film enthusiasts city-wide.
The Canterbury Film Society meets every Monday night at 7.30pm at the Philip Carter Family Auditorium at the Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū and has membership prices to suit every pocket, eg a Flexi-Pass costs $30 for three films, may be shared amongst friends and has no expiry date.
New members are warmly welcome and are asked to come earlier than 7.30pm to speak to our membership team. Doors open at 7pm for socialising and for sales of food ($2) and drink ($2–$5). Please assist us by bringing in no outside food or drink. Thank you!
This screening is director Tony Williams's "Next of Kin".
An overlooked Kiwi classic (made in Australia thanks to that country’s generous tax breaks), this stylish haunted house thriller shares its baroque flair with Italian horrors such as "Suspiria".
"An unsung classic of the video age, so much so that hardly anyone mentions it. It’s the perfect example of less-is-more, moving at a measured pace before reaching a bombastic action-packed climax." - Martin Unsworth, "Starburst"
An Australia/New Zealand production, 1982, 89 minutes, HD, M (violence).
