Class topics:

Habits of Happy People – week of 3 June to week of 24 June 4 weeks

We all have habits that seem hard to break. Unfortunately, many of these habits also make us unhappy or even harm our health. Even though we try very hard, sometimes we feel helpless to change.

Through practicing Buddha’s teachings, we can gain confidence in our potential to change. We can then replace even our most stubborn habits with profoundly beneficial ways of thinking that lead only to peace and happiness.

4 Jun – Consideration for others
11 Jun – Joy
18 Jun – Humility
25 Jun – Rejoicing

Solving Our Daily Problems with Love – week of 1 July to week of 5 August 6 weeks

Most of us feel there is room for improvement in our relationships with our partner, at work, or with our family and friends. On this course we will explore how Buddhist meditation has the power to profoundly improve and transform our relationships, both past and present.

Learn how to let go of painful attitudes and replace them with love, respect for others, patience and kindness.

2 July – Dealing with Anger
9 July – The benefits of being patient
16 July – Attachment verses love
23 July – Free your mind from unbalanced attitudes
30 July – Recognising the kindness of others
6 Aug – The great benefits of cherishing others

The Path to Compassion – week of 12 August to week of 16 September 6 weeks

What is compassion? Learn how to develop this heartfelt mind so you can really benefit others.

13 Aug – Overcoming our obsessive self-concern
20 Aug – What is empathy?
27 Aug – What is compassion?
3 Sept – Taking away the suffering of others
10 Sept – Giving others real happiness
17 Sept – Developing a supreme inner peace

What to expect at a class:
These classes are based on Buddha’s teachings on the mind, but you do not need to be a Buddhist to attend or to benefit from them. Each class consists of two guided meditations and an explanatory talk. The classes run for 90 minutes. Anyone can practice meditation and everyone is welcome to attend. There is no physical exercise involved and you can choose to sit either in a chair or on a cushion.

These classes are suitable for all levels of experience.
