An open invitation for Matariki: a creative response to challenge.
Matariki, Maori new year, is the time for remembering those we have lost in the last year, for reconnecting us as a community, and sharing old knowledge, new ideas and creative loving energy into this season of rebirth and renewal.
We know the arts are a powerful force for survival and wellbeing. They generate mental and emotional healing and renewal for both individuals and communities. As we face the immense challenges of climate change and terrorism in beautiful Aotearoa New Zealand, we can draw on our ability to think and act creatively and find ways of responding which are immediate, real, and long-lasting.
We invite you all to bring your words, images, ideas, readings, artworks, songs, videos, making and re-making, discussion, dance, haka, conversation and workshops into the gallery during Matariki between June 22 and July 28.
All are welcome to two hui to share ideas and help us develop a programme, on Wednesday 17 April from 2-3pm; and Saturday 4 May from 1-2pm.
Please call us on 902 6242 or email - firstname.lastname@example.org. if you have an idea to share before or between these hui.
