The Marlborough Careers Evening is an event that provides an opportunity for parents, students and members of the public to meet and discuss courses and potential careers with providers. This event has gone from strength to strength over the years with over 1,000 people attending.
Groups represented includes; universities, polytechnics, industry training organisations, armed forces and local businesses. It is providing an open forum to discuss options in an environment where all questions can be asked and answered.
The evening is timed so that it is close to subject selection. Years 10, 11 and 12 students can get advice on which subjects to choose for a career or tertiary course. It is also an opportunity for those wishing to pursue an apprenticeship to discuss the options with local employers. It is important to provide students with as much information and knowledge about potential careers to allow students to make fully informed decisions based on facts and professional advice.
It is also an opportunity for those who have left school to find out about opportunities to up-skill or retrain.
