In celebration of Auckland’s appointment as an official UNESCO City of Music, the Wallace Arts Trust has put together the Sunday Concert Series, filling the galleries with live music from established and emerging New Zealand musicians. The series of Sunday concerts will feature an eclectic mix of artists.
This year’s Jade String Quartet comprises Miranda Adams, APO Assistant Concertmaster and William Hanfling APO sub principal, both on violin, Robert Ashworth, principal viola, and Edith Salzmann, Naxos soloist and lecturer in cello performance at Auckland and Melbourne universities.
The concert features three of the most famous works in the string quartet repertoire, Mozart Dissonance k. 465, Shostakovitch quartet no. 8 and Schubert quartet no. 14 Death and the Maiden, and a surprise NZ encore from the acclaimed Rattle records CD “Parlour Games”.
