Haydn’s Creation is now readily admitted as some of the most life-affirming and gratifying music in the Western canon. English conductor Harry Christophers says: "Haydn's music is always a joy to perform but with 'Creation' he excels himself, allowing soloists, chorus and period orchestra to revel in vivid word-painting, both vocal and instrumental. Can there be a more consistently happy work than 'Creation'? Feel free to smile at his genius." Haydn always intended 'Creation' to be a crowd pleaser in line with the broad appeal of the Handel oratorios he had heard in England. 'Creation' rejoices in the supremacy of humanity and provides an exquisite musical celebration of the ideals of the Age of Enlightenment. No doubt you will leave this concert feeling uplifted and with a joyful heart.
