The ESDM is an extremely promising intervention which has been used in over 35 countries worldwide. It is a play-based behavioural therapy that targets a wide range of developmental skills for children with, or suspected to have autism and who are under the age of 5. ESDM therapy aims to accelerate child learning through fun interactions which are embedded in daily routines and play.
Our team leader Dr. Hannah Waddington (lecturer, certified ESDM therapist and practising educational psychologist) will be running this ESDM workshop focusing on hands-on strategies for building positive interactions with your child. The specific focus of this workshop will be getting involved in your child's play by following their choice of toy, and then building on ways they are already using the toys. In addition, there will be an overview of pretend play.
Tickets for this event are $25, places are limited to 35 people.
There will be two additional workshops this term:
- Intro and Becoming a Play Partner in Petone (27th May)
- Intro and Becoming a Play Partner in Porirua (Date TBC)
