Mindfulness is a very powerful tool in facilitating you to face challenges and create opportunity in life. “Smile! It is life: Mastering the art of joy through mindful living” is an enlightening session on mindful living which aims to offer you and your family ways to interpret your daily challenges and how to overcome them.
Dr Kwong Djee Chan (Eric) is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Education and the Internationalisation Lead of Griffith School of Medicine in Queensland Australia. He received his Medical training in Taiwan (Kaohsiung Medical University) and his PhD from Griffith University School of Applied Psychology, focusing on grief and loss support training. As a Thanatologist (Life and Death Scholar) he received his Master of Arts in Life and Death Studies from Nan Hua University in 2001. Dr Chan is also a holistic counsellor trained in Australia (2003).
As the Stream Lead of the Professional Communication and History Taking Stream in the Griffith MD program, Dr Chan introduced structured mindfulness practice into the School of Medicine in 2011, medical students have been able to apply mindfulness for exam preparation and performance anxiety management. His area of research in health education includes communication skills learning and teaching, application of mindfulness, health students’ social media behaviour, admission selection, resilience building, reflective practice and development and implementation of contemplative pedagogy in health education.

Christchurch City Chorus is Australasia’s premiere international award winning women’s a cappella chorus. In 2018 the Chorus won the national Sweet Adelines competition title for the 11th time.
Ngāi Tahu is the principal Māori tribe of the southern region of New Zealand. Its takiwā (tribal area) is the largest in New Zealand, and extends from White Bluffs / Te Parinui o Whiti (southeast of Blenheim), Mount Mahanga and Kahurangi Point in the north to Stewart Island in the south. We are honoured to have the Te Runanga o Ngāi Tahu perform their traditional performances at our event.
The Dunhuang Dance is a dance that originated from Dunhuang, Gansu province, West China. The dances itself is influenced by Buddha images and Buddhism. We are happy to present a Chinese Dance Troupe which will be performing the Dunhuang dance for us.
