2018 was a great year for street food here in Auckland - some awesome new trucks came on the scene, the Auckland Food Truck Collective was launched and people flocked from far and wide to partake in the amazing street eats our city has to offer. 2018 also saw the launch of one of Auckland’s most highly requested street food events to date - the Auckland Fried Chicken Festival - and if you attended you’ll know it was a night to remember!
After the unprecedented success of last year’s event, the Auckland Fried Chicken Festival is making a return on the 18th and 19th of May, 2019. This time promises to be bigger, better and even more delicious than last year. We’ve upgraded the venue to fit more vendors and provide you with more options for your fried chicken fix. The festival will be held in Shed 10, handily located in the heart of Auckland’s CBD with loads of parking and transport options nearby.
If you attended last year’s event you’ll know that while the food and the vibes were great, the queues weren’t….In an effort to cut down wait times and make the crowds more manageable, the Fried Chicken festival will be hosted over two days this year. Each day will have two sessions - a day and a night option - all serving the same good food, good vibes and good times so you can pick whichever session (or sessions!) suit you.
Obviously, the most important part of any food festival is the food and you can rest assured that we’ve recruited the best of the best to meet your fried food needs. Street food legends such as Peach’s Hot Chicken, Temaki Truck and Judge Bao and more will be there, serving up their best-fried chicken offerings while Lalele Gelato will be slinging scoops left, right and centre to satisfy your sweet tooth. If you prefer your chicken grilled, not fried, the Bacon Brothers crew will have you well looked after with a range of tasty chicken sammies. It’s not just street food veterans who are pitching in to feed the crowds though - restaurants Mexico, Lowbrow and The Coop are jumping on board with pop up kitchens for the festival. Behemoth will be keeping you well hydrated with their impressive range of delicious brews and word on the street is that there might even be a special Fried Chicken Festival beer in the works!
The Auckland Fried Chicken Festival 2019 promises to be one epic event, with incredible food, drinks and live music. Last year’s festival sold out in 19 minutes so make sure you get in there nice and early this time!
Tickets will go on sale through Eventfinda on Monday 8th April at 7 pm, so keep your eyes peeled for updates on that. We’re super excited for this event, we’ll see you there foodies!
