The Wairoa Agricultural and Pastoral Society is well known for its ‘country style’ annual A&P Show.
For 113 years visitors have looked forward to this summer event which brings the community together for a long weekend of true family entertainment.
The show gets underway on Thursday with the Equestrian competition including Dressage and Pleasure classes.
The Equestrian continues on Friday, along with the Junior Stock Judging competition. This includes sheep and wool judging, starting at the sheep pens at 3:30pm.
The Local Rodeo competition starts from 5pm on Friday afternoon, with the popular calf ride and ‘catch a cowboy’ challenge for kids. The Speed Shearing competition follows on from the rodeo at 7pm.
It is all go on Saturday with the Open Rodeo as well as the show shearing competition from 9am in the shearing complex.
The revamped Farmlands Rural Ironman Challenge offers something for any outdoor enthusiast. This year includes a junior section and teams of three can enter at Farmlands in Wairoa.
Fencing enthusiasts will have the chance to support the competitors in the Eastland Building & Farm Supplies Fencing competition on Saturday as well as watch other competitions including the Sheep and the Dog Trial.
