8 International comedians, 1 Night Only, 1 huge show.
The annual International Comedy Festival is back and that can only mean a chance to see a giggle (collective noun) of comedians packed in to one big show to kick off the 3 week fest.
It’s The 2018 5 Star Comedy Preview featuring 8 world class comedians packed in to a 2 hour. These preview shows are always a hot ticket for those looking for a taste of things to come.
The 2018 line-up includes the return of some favourites from previous years including Lloyd Langford from Wales and Jimmy McGhie from England who both return to the festival with brand new solo hour long shows.
They will be joined by some fresh faces from England all of whom enjoyed critical acclaim and sell-out seasons at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe – Fin Taylor, Lauren Pattison, Phil Wang and Ian Smith. They will line-up in ‘The Big Show’ at Q Theatre as well as performing solo shows at The Classic during the festival.
And one of the highlights in 2018 is the return of Andrew Maxwell who made his NZ Fest debut back in 2001, alongside Ross Noble, both promising new faces at the time. Now a veteran of 20 Edinburgh Fringes, Maxwell is now one of the Kings of Irish comedy.
Rounding out the line-up is a spicy addition to the festival from Mexico, the outrageously funny El Jaguar, considered one of the finest comic improvisers in the world.
All these acts will be appearing in a variety of shows throughout the festival including their own award winning solo shows but the ‘5 Star Comedy Preview’ is a rare opportunity to see them altogether on the same stage.
