The Tai Tapu Garden Tour celebrates six beautiful local gardens with a story, from historic to modern, native to exotic, full of colour and texture. Each property offers a unique opportunity to surround yourself with diversity and points of interest with talks and demonstrations.
Join us at our spring fete situated at Tai Tapu School where you can buy a range of local artisan crafts, garden items and plants. Local food producers will be showcased and there will be food and coffee available to tempt your taste buds. Come and enjoy a day in Tai Tapu, nestled in the foothills of Christchurch.
A collection of five gardens in Tai Tapu will be offered as a local tour package at $30.
In addition, we are offering a limited number of tickets for a special Otahuna Lodge Garden Tour Package at $50.
This is not to be missed, join a guided tour of the prestigious historic homestead gardens designed by A. E. Lowe who trained at Kew Gardens, London, for Sir Heaton Rhodes. The estate at Otahuna includes more than 20 planted acres of historic, decorative and productive gardens. A tour of these grounds now in their 12th year of renovation, provides a glimpse into how garden design has changed over the last century, as well as what was necessary in the Victorian era and what is essential today to maintain a garden on such a scale. The tour will take in the Great Lawn and Pond, the formal Dutch Garden, the Orchard & Potager Garden, and the Melon and Mushroom Houses.
Door sales will be available on the day for the Collection of Gardens in Tai Tapu at $35.
Children under 13 are free entry.
We are not able to offer the Otahuna Lodge Garden Tour as door sales, these must be pre-booked ahead of time online.
Pre ordered delicious picnic lunch selections are available to purchase for $15 online, this includes a complimentary cup of tea.

We are very excited to announce a very special art exhibition to be held as part of the garden tour by New Zealand Artists.
Alongside an impressive permanent collection of New Zealand Sculptors at the Tai Tapu Sculpture Garden, award winning Photographer Emma Bass and Painter Holly Zandbergen are joining together to present 'Imperfect' and 'Compositions of Nature' to Christchurch.
