Join the New Zealand Defence Force for the final commemorative activity of the First World War Centenary at Pukeahu National War Memorial Park at 7.30pm on Armistice Day, Sunday 11 November.
The Sunset Ceremony incorporates the final daily Last Post of the First World War centenary. It will last approximately 45-60 minutes and is free to all those wishing to attend.
The Ceremony will be a creative and inclusive tribute to all New Zealanders who served in the First World War as well as their families and all others impacted by the war.
The programme will draw on the music of New Zealand’s First World War centenary programme, both at home and overseas. The New Zealand Defence Force Band and military ceremonial personnel bearing the 20 New Zealand Defence Force Regimental, Corps and Unit Colours, Banners, Guidon and Standards will take part in the ceremony.
Attendees are encouraged to wear medals and to bring mementos, such as photos, in memory of family members who served, or family members impacted, by the First World War.
