"Do any human beings ever realise life while they live it?"
Third-year theatre students from Victoria University of Wellington, are challenging people to stop and appreciate the smaller things in life. Under the tutelage of director Sally Richards, the students of the THEA 311 ‘Collaborative Production’ course, are reshaping Thornton Wilder’s 1938 play ‘Our Town’ to make it speak for itself regardless of time and place.
“I hope audiences might be moved to stop this great rush through life” says Richards. “There is a political, philosophical and social dimension to ‘Our Town’, that we will consider in our own way. This play presents a direct challenge to stop, reflect, to look away from the screen and take a breath.”
Imagine staring right into the face of your own mortality. This is what 'Our Town' forces you to do.
