Wellington based group Midnight Vagaries play a rare show at the Third Eye - Tuatara's Temple of Taste. Opening set by Jhan Lindsay.
With influences ranging from trip hop to jazz and soul, funk and folk, expect a night of finely nuanced original music executed with style. Bass, drums, keys, guitar and saxophone produce lush soundscapes that set a rich bed for lyrical metaphor. Height scaling vocals weave stories and atmospheres, with a nod to eastern harmonies here and there.
Think: Jeff Buckley and PJ Harvey start liaisons with Arrested Development and take a jazz tinged detour. Showcasing brand new material from their recent south island tour this innovative trio hail from long time musical collaborations with such projects as Hikoikoi, Skeleton Crew, Niko Ne Zna, and the odd BATS theatre production.
Drums and percussion - Ian Downer, Bass - Richard Flintoff, Guitar/vocals/keys and sax – Michaela Manley
Opening the evening will be multi-instrumentalist and songstress Jhan Lindsay, playing a set of jazz/blues/soul originals. Jhan has previously released an alum with her group the Chattelaines to great acclaim, and is in the process of capturing her second album to be released this year.
