Mel Parsons returns to the Leigh Sawmill for a full band show this summer before taking a swag of new songs into the studio.
Parsons is an award-winning folk artist and relentless touring machine, with international performances & festivals taking up more and more of her schedule in recent years. Following her NZ summer tour Parsons will return to North America on the touring circuit, with shows in Canada & the USA.
With a razor sharp wit and deft hand on the guitar, Parsons will not disappoint - expect a mix of new & old songs, sweet vocal harmony and good times.
Since its release, Parsons' most recent album ’Drylands’ has spent 49 weeks in the IMNZ album charts, peaking at No.2, and follows the success of both her debut album ‘Over My Shoulder’ in 2009, and sophomore offering ‘Red Grey Blue’ in 2011. Parsons was the winner of the 2016 APRA Country Song of the Year, 2016 MMF Best Independent Tour, is a two-time NZ Music Award (VNZMA) finalist for Folk Album of the Year, a 2015 finalist for the coveted APRA Silver Scroll award.

He’s a familiar face and an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who has loaned his talents to many a band over the years. Now Christchurch artist Jed Parsons is taking centre stage with his unique concoction of indie-pop. Parsons’ sound is a culmination of his rich and varied background as a touring musician, which has taken him around the world and into the studio with the likes of nomad, Pacific Heights and Mel Parsons.
With his debut single 'Get Lost' making serious waves on the air and a captivating live presence, Jed Parsons is one to watch.
