This is a family-friendly show based on the annual appearance of the 'Seven Sisters' Matariki constellation in the June night sky. One legend has it that this constellation of seven stars represents a whānau of six sisters and their mother, Matariki. The whānau are called together once a year to use their special talents and gifts to help their kuia, Papatūānuku, prepare the earth for the New Year. The audience can expect a journey of myth and wonder as they meet a unique cast of wahine toa. 'Whitu' is a story about whānau; about sisterhood; about celebrating our unique contribution to the world - a Matariki story.
