Comedy All-Star Showcase at the B.M.C.
6 International Comedy Festival stars packed in to One Big Show.
Kicking off the 2018 NZ International Comedy Festival at the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna on Sat 28th April it’s the Comedy All-Star Showcase featuring 6 international guest comedians in a 2 hour show.
It’s a taste of things to come with many of the stars of the show returning for extended sets at the BMC Comedy Club over the 3 week festival. Others will only be appearing in this ‘one night’ Showcase.
The 2018 line-up includes a favourite from 2017, Jimmy McGhie from England returning to the festival with a brand new solo hour long show.
He will be joined by some fresh faces from England all of whom enjoyed critical acclaim and sell-out seasons at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe – Fin Taylor, Lauren Pattison, Phil Wang and Ian Smith. They will line-up in ‘The Big Show’ at Q Theatre as well as performing solo shows at The Classic during the festival.
Rounding out the line-up is a spicy addition to the festival from Mexico, the outrageously funny El Jaguar, considered one of the finest comic improvisers in the world.
Following the Comedy All-Star Showcase, local producer Scott Blanks will, once again, be converting the conference and function rooms at the Bruce Mason Centre in to the popular ‘pop-up’ comedy cabaret very similar in style, proportions and atmosphere to that at the home of live comedy, The Classic, which he has run for 20 years on Queen St.
Launched at the 2014 Comedy Festival, this format proved an instant hit with local audiences, returning each year with more sold out shows.
The BMC Comedy Club will host a fresh international line-up over the following 3 weeks of the festival every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, concluding on Sat 20 May.
You obviously have good taste, so you should definitely check out some more live comedy in the 2018 NZ International Comedy Festival with Best Foods Mayo from 26 April - 20 May.
