Sinjar's People, Colour & Clay - Exhibition By Dastan Othman.
This exhibition captures the resilience of human beings in the face of adversity. Through the use of bright acrylic paint and clay on canvas, Dastan Othman re-imagines photographs taken by Zmnako Ismael of the internally displaced people who fled from Sinjar, Iraq through the Sinjari Desert towards the city of Duhok in August 2014.
Dastan came to reside New Zealand in 2015. Most recently she has exhibited in group exhibitions at Lakehouse Art Centre and the Maritime Museum in Auckland as well as the Albany and Birkenhead Library.
This exhibition is a part of the Auckland Heritage Festival 2018.
