To celebrate the much-anticipated release of their debut album, Mascuzzi Jacuzzi (out Dec 1st) and on the back of their first Australian tour, Dunedin favourites, Albion Place is returning to NZ shores in what promises to be one of the most memorable tours of the summer. Beginning in Wellington, the young indie-rockers then head through Mount Maunganui, Auckland, Nelson, Christchurch, Queenstown and Dunedin with a selection of their new material, and all of the old favourites.
Mascuzzi Jacuzzi is a real coming-of-age album both lyrically and musically that offers long-time listeners their first substantial taste of a truly unique Albion Place sound. It is sensual and groovy, combining smooth soulful melodies with a funky rhythm and psychedelic synth undertones. When asked about the new album the band said: “It’s the first time we’ve come out with something that’s exactly what we intended it to be, It feels fresh and it’s exciting knowing that this project is the best description of where we’re at as humans.” Working with the likes of Oli Wilson (The Chills, Knives at Noon), Steven John Marr (Kane Strang, Doprah) and Tom Bell (The Shifting Sands) there is plenty of reason to be excited about this coming together of talent and experience. 2017 has been a big year for Albion Place. Selling out rooms across New Zealand both in support of their single Easier and in conjunction with Corona on NZ’s first Corona Sunset’s tour. The band have also secured a main stage slot at famous New Years festival Rhythm & Alps, where they will look to kickstart what promises to be an exciting 2018 for the young band.
Joined by an eclectic group support acts, the Mascuzzi Jacuzzi tour will be a unique display of today’s exciting young New Zealand music scene and should not be missed. Tickets available from eventfinda.co.nz
